Who is Steno Museum?
Steno Museum is a science and medical history museum located in Aarhus. The museum targets school pupils, students, and the general public with the aim of increasing interest in science and medicine.
What was the objective?
The main objective of the Steno Museum project was to create a solution that incorporated storytelling. We were free to develop a concept adapted to an information screen, a (potential) app, a website, or something entirely different.
The goal was to design a solution with a strong focus on storytelling that could enhance the museum experience, while also enabling visitors to interact with the final product.
What was the problem?
Steno Museum was facing a challenge in increasing visitor numbers and attracting more people. Currently, many schoolchildren, families with children, and individuals interested in science visit the museum.
As multimedia designers, we were brought in to propose various solutions to potentially address the problem Steno was facing. In my project group, we chose to respond to the challenge by developing a potential app for both iOS and Android.
What was the result?
The result was an app-based solution designed to be used by all visitors. However, our primary focus was on younger children due to the limited project timeframe.
We developed a concept centred around interactivity, treasure hunting, and learning. The proposed app featured a talking professor who guides children through the museum, shares fun facts, and leads them to their next treasure hunt object.

The video showcases the finished prototype, featuring voice narration and clickable buttons. The idea is that children are given a phone, and the app guides them through the museum while they learn.
The video showcases the final solution with rotating planets. When children enter the astronomy room, they will be able to explore the different planets.
